Barbie unveils new trailer featuring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling leaving Barbieland for real world and get arrested; Warner Bros. announce Dua Lipa, Nicki Minaj, FIFTY FIFTY, Ice Spice and more on the soundtrack

A new trailer for Barbie has been unveiled. Starring as the iconic doll, Margot Robbie plays Barbie along with a star-studded supporting cast of Ryan Gosling, Kate McKinnon, Alexandra Shipp, America Ferrera, Simu Liu, and Will Ferrell. Following the April 2023 trailer release, a new trailer was unveiled on Thursday in conjunction with the announcement of the artists featured on the soundtrack.

The main trailer sees Barbie and Ken enjoying their time in Barbie land. However, Barbie gets fatigued due to life in paradise and ventures out to explore the real world. It shows that the real world is not pink-coded with the lifestyle they have enjoyed. Barbie and Ken end up in jail and even take mug shots. Will Ferrell makes an appearance in the modern world as people are starting to wonder why Barbie and Ken are in the real world?

On the very same day, Barbie makers announced the official artists to be featured on the soundtrack of the movie. Atlantic Records announced BARBIE THE ALBUM. The soundtrack campaign kicks off today with the electrifying first single “Dance The Night” from 3x GRAMMY Award-winning superstar Dua Lipa, who also makes a special appearance in the film. “Dance The Night” was produced by Mark Ronson, Andrew Wyatt and the Picard Brothers. The track can be heard in the film’s global official trailer, which launched earlier on Thursday.

BARBIE THE ALBUM will feature new tracks from an unprecedented lineup of artists including Nicki Minaj and Ice Spice, Lizzo, KAROL G, Charli XCX, PinkPantheress, Ava Max, Dominic Fike, Khalid, The Kid LAROI, Tame Impala, HAIM, GAYLE and FIFTY FIFTY feat. Kali. Barbie star Ryan Gosling also joins the robust roster of soundtrack artists with his iconic original song performed as his character, Ken.

BARBIE THE ALBUM was executive produced by internationally renowned DJ and Oscar, Golden Globe and 7x GRAMMY award-winning artist and producer, Mark Ronson and Barbie writer/director/executive producer Greta Gerwig. Additional key players involved in the project include Soundtrack Album Co-Producers, Brandon Creed and Joseph Khoury, as well as the Barbie Music Supervisor and Album Executive Producer, George Drakoulias.

Barbie has a total of 11 Barbies and 5 Kens including Emma Mackey, Issa Rae, Hari Nef, Alexandra Shipp, Simu Liu, Scott Evans, Ncuti Gatwa, Nicola Coughlan, Emerald Fennell, Kate McKinnon and more.

Gerwig directed Barbie from a screenplay by Gerwig & Oscar nominee Noah Baumbach based on Barbie by Mattel.  The film’s producers are Oscar nominee David Heyman, Robbie, Tom Ackerley and Robbie Brenner, with Gerwig, Baumbach, Ynon Kreiz, Richard Dickson, Michael Sharp, Josey McNamara, Courtenay Valenti, Toby Emmerich and Cate Adams serving as executive producers.

The film will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures and released in theaters only nationwide on July 21, 2023 and beginning internationally on July 19, 2023.

Darlings director Jasmeet K Reen to helm Madhubala biopic: Report

Following her directorial debut with Alia Bhatt, Shefali Shah and Vijay Varma starrer Darlings in 2022, Jasmeet K Reen has now signed her second directorial venture.
