Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut has been making headlines everyday be it for Javed Akhtar or nepotism. Recently the actress made news for taking a dig at Karan Johar for his film Selfiee. On the day when Selfiee was released, actress Kangana Ranaut criticised the movie on her Instagram page. Featuring Akshay Kumar and Emraan Hashmi in the lead, the film is directed by Raj Mehta.

Taking to her Instagram Stories, Kangana wrote, “Karan Johar movie Selfie has hardly made 10 lakhs on the first day I don’t see even one trade or media person talk about it forget mocking or bullying him the way they harass me…”

She then posted a screenshot of a news article comparing Akshay Kumar to Kangana Ranaut as the actor delivered back-to-back films that failed to perform well at the box office. “I was looking for news about selfie flop I found all the news is about me…yeh bhi meri hi galti hai.” She also added, “Wah bhai Karan johar wah.”

The actress, though, didn’t end there. She posted other news stories in which she called the movie Selfiee a flop and added that Karan Johar was not being blamed for the failure of the movie; rather, Akshay Kumar and she were.

She posted a final note that read, “Web is full of hundreds of article where selfie failure is blamed on me and Akshay sir no mention of Karan Johar name at all, this is how mafia manipulates news and build perception that suits their narrative.”

Talking about the film Selfiee, bankrolled by Dharma Productions and Star Studios, it is directed by Raj Mehta. Selfiee also features Emraan Hashmi, Diana Penty and Nushratt Bharuccha in the lead roles. The film is an official remake of the 2019 Malayalam film Driving Licence. The film released in theatres on February 24, 2023.
